Weightlifting Scholarships

Scholarships are a great way to help students cover the costs of attending higher education. This form of financial aid is free for students and does not need to be repaid which is why they are always recommended before considering loans.

Weightlifting is not a sport for the weak. It requires tremendous dedication, a passion for living a healthy life, and dedication to the gym. Not many scholarships are specifically available for weightlifting.

However, here is a list of scholarship opportunities weightlifters may be eligible for.

Below you will find a list of scholarships weightlifters can apply for. Before applying for any of these scholarships, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements.

Cappex Easy College Money Scholarship

  • Value: $1,000
  • Essay: None
  • Deadline: June 30

Although this is not directly for weightlifting students, the Cappex scholarship is open to anyone who plans to enroll in college in the next 12 months. There is no essay or minimum GPA requirement to apply.

  • Grade Eligibility: Enrolled in high school or college or planning to enroll in the next 12 months
  • GPA Requirements: None
  • Essay: None
  • Deadline: August 31, 2020
  • Other Requirements:
    • You must have a Cappex account to submit a scholarship application.

Arnold Sports Festival Columbus Rotary Scholarship

  • Value: $2,500
  • Essay: Yes, 250 words
  • Deadline: February 22

The Arnold Sports Festival has worked closely with the Columbus Rotary for over 10 years awarding scholarships to athletes who excel in sports and academics.

The Arnold Sports Festival Columbus Rotary Scholarship is intended for individuals who compete in the Arnold Weightlifting Classic and demonstrate a positive-impact involvement within their communities. This scholarship is awarded annually.

  • Age Eligibility: 10 – 26 years of age
  • GPA Requirements: None
  • Essay: Yes, 250 words

  • Other Requirements:
    • Applicant must compete in the Arnold Weightlifting Classic
    • One letter of recommendation required

Fitness and Education Scholarship

  • Value: $2,000

Iron Company’s Fitness and Education Scholarship is an annual award intended to assist students in the fitness field to afford the cost of college. They believe college and having a strong education is a great first step for a successful career. Iron Company hopes to do what they can to help the fitness community grow with highly-motivated young minds.

  • Grade Eligibility: Must be an incoming college freshman
  • GPA Requirements: 3.0
  • Essay: Yes, 250 words
  • Deadline: June 1
  • Other Requirements:
    • Applicant must have a fitness related major

Challenge Scholarship

  • Value: $2,000
  • Essay: Yes
  • Deadline: October 15

NCSA’s Challenge Scholarship is available to students who are eligible for a degree at their respective educational institutions. They are given to members of the association who are seeking a degree in strength and conditioning-related field.

  • Value: $2,000
  • Grade Eligibility: Must be a candidate for a degree at the educational institution
  • GPA Requirements: Not disclosed
  • Essay: Yes
  • Deadline: October 15
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must be a current member of NSCA
    • 3 letters of recommendation
    • Transcripts from each school attended
