When choosing a new home, one must consider a variety of factors. Though things such as affordability, weather, and healthcare are all important, safety might be the most crucial of all. Whether you are a first time home-owner or just someone looking for a new place, there is no better feeling than going home and knowing that you will be safe there.
At LendEDU, our team strives to put out helpful information for individuals looking to make important financial decisions. This month, we decided to look into the safety of towns across the country. Using the FBI’s crime statistics for towns in the United States with a population between 5,000 and 10,000, we determined the 250 safest small towns.
We determined the rankings by dividing the population of each small town by the number of violent crimes that occurred there in 2015. We then multiplied this number by 1,000 to get the crimes per 1,000 residents in each town.
