If you want to earn more miles on your summer travel, a Capital One and Hotels.com partnership offers rewards on hotel stays if you pay with Capital One credit cards, such as the Venture Rewards and VentureOne cards.
Through Jan. 31, 2020, cardholders are eligible to earn unlimited 10x miles by paying for a hotel through Hotel.com with the link hotels.com/venture. When the drop-down menu offers a choice, cardholders just pick, “Pay Now,” at checkout.
This offer comes as Capital One seeks ways to give cardholders more benefits without the hassle. In a travel survey by Capital One, respondents noted that when booking travel, they desired flexible, simple ways to earn rewards without making sacrifices. Capital One believes this partnership is one way to do so.
How to Earn More Travel Rewards
The offer for these popular travel credit cards appears to be pretty flexible, and cardholders can combine it with Hotels.com promo codes and Secret Prices. Hotels can be booked without a Hotels.com Rewards account, but members of the Hotels.com Rewards program can take advantage of the Capital One offer and also earn a free hotel night for every 10 nights stayed.
Here are the offer’s exclusions:
Paying for a hotel on site at the property or incidentals and expenses incurred during the stay
Using a third-party extension or service (e.g. Ebates.com and similar websites) with a booking
Using PayPal for hotel payments
Cardholders will receive their 10x miles within two billing cycles from the time the hotel stay has been paid through one of the two eligible cards. For regular miles earned (2 miles per dollar with Venture, 1.25 miles per dollar with VentureOne), they may post to a cardholder’s account prior to the remaining miles earned through the offer.
Capital One has a long list of travel purchases eligible for mile redemptions including airlines, bus lines, car rental agencies, cruise lines, hotels, limousine services, rail lines, taxis, time shares, travel purchases, and travel agents. Their redemption availability is determined by the assigned merchant category code, which Capital One is not responsible for.
As for the miles’ expiration, they are good throughout the Capital One account’s life. However, if the account is closed, cardholders will lose unredeemed miles. There is also no cap for the reward amounts earned on purchases. Once you’ve accrued your miles, you can redeem your rewards for more travel or use the Purchase Eraser to pay for travel purchases you’ve already made.
