You Can Use American Express Card Points on Grubhub

Grubhub is a food delivery service available for 75,000 restaurants in 1,300 U.S. cities plus London. Through Grubhub’s web site or app, users can enter their address and search through all the restaurants that have a delivery service to their location.

When a user places an order through Grubhub, the order is sent to the restaurant. The restaurant updates the order status with Grubhub, who then forwards that information to the user.

Well, that’s GrubHub. But did you know that it’s possible to pay for GrubHub using credit card rewards?

Grubhub and American Express Rewards

American Express cardholders can use their rewards points to pay for food delivery through Grubhub. Rewards points are available on various consumer and corporate American Express credit cards. Although some cards allow members to earn rewards points at a higher rate on some purchases, the standard conversion is one dollar spent equals one reward point.

Using American Express Rewards Points at Grubhub

Before you can make a purchase using rewards points, you will need to add an eligible American Express credit card to your GrubHub account and use it to make an initial purchase. After completing this initial purchase, your American Express rewards will be connected to your Grubhub or Seamless account.

When you make your next purchase through Grubhub and get to the checkout process, you will automatically see your available American Express rewards points balance and its associated dollar value. If you want to use those rewards points, you can enter a dollar amount to use for your purchase and click “apply.” You will then receive a statement credit for the amount of points used in the transaction.

Additional Information

If you have additional authorized card members on your American Express account, those cardholders can also be authorized to use your rewards points on their Grubhub account. You simply need to authorize that card in your American Express rewards account. Then they can follow the same process to enable American Express rewards points with a Grubhub or Seamless account.

When using rewards points at Grubhub, you have the option to pay only part of the balance with points. The option to use rewards points, however, will only be available to you if you have a balance of at least two rewards points in your account.
