Scholarships are one of the best ways to pay for a college education. While you might think that most are about athletic or academic achievements, there are many unique scholarships worth considering.

Below, you’ll find a list of five unique scholarships that can help offset some of the costs of your education.
Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest Scholarship
Each year, the Stuttgart, Arkansas Chamber of Commerce hosts the Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest. High school seniors who compete can win up to $2,000 to use toward tuition. Prizes are also awarded to the second and third-place duck callers.

- Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors
- GPA Requirement: None
- Essay: None
- Deadline: November 26th
- Other Requirements:
- Student must attend the contest
- Student must be able to do a convincing duck call
Stuck at Prom Scholarship
A prom is a major event for many high school students, and this scholarship contest can make it a lucrative one. Duck brand will award more than $20,000 to students who make the most creative or impressive prom attire out of Duck brand tape.
- Value: $500 – $10,000
- Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors
- GPA Requirement: None
- Essay: None
- Deadline: June 9th
- Other Requirements:
- Create a dress or tuxedo out of Duck brand tape
- Live in the United States or Canada, except for Arizona, Maryland, Tennessee, Colorado, North Dakota, or Quebec
- Winners are selected partially based on public voting
The Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship
If you’re a fan of horror movies, you could win up to $2,000 in the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship. This award goes to the student who submits the best plan for surviving if zombies overran their high school or college.

- Grade Eligibility: High school and college undergraduates
- GPA Requirement: No
- Essay: Yes
- Deadline: October 31st
- Other Requirements:
- The student must be a legal resident of the United States
Starfleet Scholarship
If you’re a big fan of Star Trek, you might be able to win a $1,000 scholarship from Starfleet, an international fan group. The award is available for students who have been members of Starfleet for at least one year.
There are five awards available, one each for students studying engineering and technology, medicine, art, business, and education, and one for a student studying a field outside of those listed.

- Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors and college undergraduates
- GPA Requirement: None
- Essay: Yes
- Deadline: June 15th
- Other Requirements:
- Student must have joined Starfleet at least one year prior to the application deadline
- Three letters of recommendation, including one from a member of Starfleet ranked Captain or higher
The Debt.com Scholarship for Aggressive Scholarship Applicants
This scholarship program from Debt.com will award $500 to students who apply to lots of other scholarships. Scholarships are already one of the best ways to pay for college, and this scholarship gives you even more incentive to apply for them.
