Pacific Northwest Scholarship Program
Those that live in the Pacific Northwest can apply for one of the many scholarships for cancer survivors available through the Cancer for College Scholarship. This scholarship program is reserved for those in the Pacific Northwest who have been diagnosed with cancer and are now in full remission. Proof of health diagnosis and prognosis is required as well as an essay explaining how cancer has impacted the life of the applicant. Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship
The Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship is a financial assistance program named in memory of Iowa State University student athlete Brian Pearson. Brian played basketball at the university and had brain cancer. In 1998, the disease took his life tragically and the scholarship was named aptly in his memory. The Brian Pearson Memorial fund offers individuals the chance to earn one of the one-thousand dollar scholarships for cancer survivors that is available through the school. Those that wish to apply need to demonstrate respect and caring and must be a cancer survivor or be currently battling the disease, proof of which has to be provided at the time of application. Cancer for College Scholarship
For those that have battled cancer, there is help available to fund an education through the Cancer for College Scholarship. This organization offers several scholarships for cancer survivors and current fighters both. Those that wish to apply must demonstrate financial need by providing their parents’ previous year tax return as well as any personal returns. They must also have a letter stating that they are enrolled in an educational institute of higher learning that is accredited and provide any transcripts from their educational past, be it college or high school. Those that apply must also provide a cost sheet for their current college education and they must provide two letters of recommendation. The award recipient can earn thousands of dollars toward college tuition and can fill out the application here.
