Scholarly performance is important for building educational backgrounds and necessary skills for a college career. David Letterman Scholarship
The David Letterman Telecommunications Scholarship was developed to provide students at Ball State University the opportunity to pursue a degree in the telecommunications field without having the additional worry regarding paying for that degree. The scholarship is given to those who have already been accepted into the program and who are actively pursuing their degree.
All of those who apply for this scholarships for average students need to have completed between thirty and one-hundred two hours of their coursework, though their GPA is not asked for. They must also be enrolled for at least twelve hours in the semester that they will be receiving the financial aid. The scholarships can get up to ten-thousand dollars to the winner.
There is, however, requirements that need to be met in order to be considered for this award. It is a competition scholarship and requires that individuals develop and plan a creative telecommunications project, explaining all of the details through an essay portion. These essays and plans will be submitted to a committee who will ultimately decide who is the winner and the runner-ups, all of whom receive a prize. College Scholarship Essay Competition
The College Scholarship Essay Competition is one of the scholarships for average students that does not rely on high school performance or a GPA to determine strength and ability. On the contrary, this scholarship is given based upon an essay portion rather than on a number on a number on a transcript. The essay prompts and requirements can differ from year to year but the prize amount remains the same at about one-thousand dollars.
Those students that wish to apply must be accepted into a college or be currently enrolled. Further, they must be interested at some level in politics or driving as the essay prompts tend to range around the topic of improving driving conditions and minimizing distractions for those that are on the road.
