Scholarships are a great way for students to pay for college. Unlike loans, you don’t have to pay a scholarship back. There are many scholarship programs out there, including some that give awards to students based on physical characteristics.

Below, you’ll find a list of scholarships that are awarded to people based on physical characteristics.

Tall Clubs International Scholarship

Tall Clubs International is a club for tall people. To join, women must be at least 5’10, and men must be at least 6’2 and have a tall sponsor in the organization. Each year, Tall Clubs International awards a scholarship to a student under age 21.

• GPA Requirement: None
• Essay: No
• Deadline: March 1st
• Other Requirements:
  • Students must be sponsored by a local Tall Club
  • Women must be at least 5’10
  • Men must be at least 6’2

Scheigert Scholarship

The Scheigert Scholarship is sponsored by the Council of Citizens with Low Vision International, an organization for people who need to use glasses or contacts. This program awards $3,000 to three recipients.

• Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors and undergraduate students
• GPA Requirement: 3.2+
• Essay: Yes
• Deadline: March 15th
• Other Requirements:
  • Winners must attend CCLVI’s annual conference
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Must submit a report from an ophthalmologist or optometrist to prove the need for vision correction

Little People of America Scholarship

The Little People of America Scholarship awards up to $1,000 or more to short students under 4’10” in height. Preference is given to those who have received a diagnosis of dwarfism and who are members of LPA.

• Value: $250 – $1,000+
• Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors and undergraduates
• GPA Requirement: None
• Essay: Yes
• Deadline: May 3rd
• Other Requirements:
  • Must be shorter than 4’10”
  • Preference is given to members of LPA or family members

Mary Joan Wolf and Betty Radetic Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded each year by the Greater St. Louis Mothers of Twins Club. If you’re a twin (or triplet, or quadruplet, etc.), you may be eligible for the scholarship. If both twins apply, both may be able to win because two awards are given each year,

• Essay: Yes
• Deadline: February 19th
• Other Requirements:
  • The student must be a multiple birth sibling
  • Two letters of reference
  • Submit copies of birth certificates to show multiple birth

University of California Irvine Esports Scholarship

Most people know that athleticism, a physical trait is one way to earn a scholarship to play a sport at college. Now, people who may not be athletic but who have good reaction times and lots of dexterity can qualify for scholarships through esports.

Many schools, including UC Irvine, award money to students who compete on their video game teams. If you have the reaction time, focus, and dexterity required, this can be a fun way to help pay for school.

• Value: $1,000 – $6,000
• Grade Eligibility: Graduating seniors and undergraduates
• GPA Requirement: None
• Essay: No
• Deadline: August 1st
• Other Requirements:
  • Be highly ranked in League of Legends or Overwatch
  • Complete a tryout with the team
