Students interested in pursuing a career as a pharmacist may be wondering whether there are any scholarships to help them fund their studies. The good news is that many scholarships are available to pre-pharmacy students and students enrolled in pharmacy programs at the graduate level. Some of these scholarships subsume pharmacy under either the STEM or medicine umbrella. Funding opportunities are available through the federal and state government. Additionally, some private organizations also encourage higher education for aspiring pharmacy students. Check out the list below to help find pharmacy scholarships:
West Texas Pharmacy Association provides scholarships to student members at the undergraduate level. Applicants must submit a completed application prior to the December 15th deadline. In addition, applicants are required to obtain a letter from the School of Pharmacy in with they are enrolled or plan to enroll in to verify their grade point average and graduation date. Furthermore, two letters of recommendation are required along with a letter indicating financial need. American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education Gateway research Scholarship provides $5,000 worth of support to eligible pharmacy students. In order to be eligible students must be a citizen of the United Stated and enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate pharmacy program. Students must be enrolled for one full academic year after the award if granted. Applicants are required to be nominated by a faculty member at their school who will agree to serve as the student’s mentor on the proposed research project.
Air Force Health Professions Scholarship offers funding opportunities to students who would be willing to serve as an active duty member after graduation. This scholarship provides up to $45,000 annually along with a stipend for living expenses. Students must be citizens of the U.S. and be studying a health care career, which includes pharmacists. American Pharmacists’ Association Student Scholarship provides awards of up to $3,000 to student members. In order to be eligible, students must have at least a 2.7 grade point average and have been involved in APhA activities within their chapter throughout the year. Health resources and services Administration Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students offers funding to students studying pharmacy careers. Students must demonstrate financial need and be a U.S. citizen. The amount of the award varies and awards may not exceed full tuition plus living expenses. Maryland Pharmacists Association Student Scholarships provide $1,500 to three Maryland residents each year. Students must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average and be enrolled in a pharmacy degree program. The application deadline is May 1st.
