Michigan has long been known as one of the auto industry capitals of the world. In addition, many students know Michigan as home to the famous Great Lakes. College students in Michigan may also be happy to know that Michigan is well-known as home to some of the best colleges and universities, including the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and Michigan State. As such, Michigan has many scholarships available to students who are residents of the state and/or students who are studying there. Some of these scholarships are funded through the Michigan State government while others come from either individual colleges or other organizations. Below is a list of scholarships in Michigan.

Michigan Tuition Grant Program
This program provides students with awards covering the full cost of tuition and fees at an in-state university. These awards are open to undergraduate students who complete the FAFSA prior to June 30th. In order to be eligible for these awards, students must show financial need and plan to enroll for at least six credits at an independent college or university in Michigan. Students must be residents of Michigan and hold a high school diploma. Furthermore, students must be in the United States legally. More information about this award can be found on the website.
NTA New Horizons Kathy LeTarte Scholarship
This scholarship is open to residents of Michigan. Students may be studying on a part-time or full-time basis. In order to be eligible, students must be residents of the United States who plan to enroll in a college or university in the U.S. Students must plan to study tourism or hospitality related degree. Furthermore, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average. In order to apply, students are required to submit the following materials: U.S. passport, Michigan driver’s license, resume, letter of recommendation, essay, and transcripts. Saginaw Community Foundation Scholarships
These scholarships provide students with access to over 170 scholarships, which are funded through families, individual sponsors, and other civic groups and businesses. The application cycle is open from November 1st through February 15th. In order to apply, students are required to submit letters of recommendation, provide a copy of their high school transcripts, complete IRS tax information, write an essay, and complete an application form. Applicants are chosen for this scholarship based on a number of different criteria, including: leadership skills, school and community involvements, and their written essay. University of Michigan Alumnae Club Scholarship
This scholarship is open to students at the University of Michigan who are entering at least their second year at UM. In order to be eligible, students must reside in Michigan or an adjoining county. Furthermore, students must show financial need and have a strong grade point average.
