Tuition Break for New England Residents is open to residents of Maine who plan to study at another college of university within New England. Students must plan to study in one of the following states: CT, MA, NH, RI, or VT. The award provides a discount of up to $7,000 per year. Students are required to major in an area that is not offered at a Maine university or college. Competitive Skills Scholarship Program offers Maine residents the opportunity to receive funding for high-wage jobs that are critical to the state. The award can be used to attend two- or four-year programs as well as certificate programs.
Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarships provide sixteen lucky students the opportunity to receive $1,000 to put towards their tuition. These awards are open to both high school seniors and current college students who attend an institution in Maine. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this award. Recipients are chosen based on academic merit, community service, involvement in extracurricular activities, financial need, an essay, and recommendation letters. Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship provides two awards worth $2,500 each year. In order to be eligible, students must be residents of Maine and have been accepted or currently attend an accredited institution. The Russ Casey/Maine restaurant Associates Scholarship Fund provides three awards worth $1,000 each. This award is only open to residents of Maine who plan to major in a career that is related to restaurant, hotel management, culinary arts, or a related field. Winners are chosen based on the following criteria: career goals, prior work history, academic merit, and financial need. Completed applications must be submitted prior to the April 17th deadline.
