Healthcare is a diversified field of study and career choices that is amazingly varied in the professions that can come from successfully studying the field. From doctors to nurses to insurance agencies to hospital administrative staff, there are so many different opportunities for study and career opportunities through this field that hundreds of thousands of individuals obtain degrees in it each year. Unfortunately, pursuing a medical or healthcare degree can be extremely labor intensive, time consuming, and financially burdening. That is why so many individuals look for opportunities to help them afford these academic pursuits.
Because of the sheer wealth of different careers that are encompassed by the “healthcare” label, there are several different organizations that work to provide financial assistance and give back to those interested in a relevant field of study. From physicians’ groups to diversity based groups to nursing associations, the opportunities for financial aid in the healthcare field are extensive. Indian Health Service Scholarship Program
For minorities pursuing degrees in the field of healthcare, there is help available. Among the different healthcare scholarships available is the Indian Health Scholarship Program, that provides individuals identifying as Native American, Alaskan, or American Indian the opportunity to earn money toward their pursuits in the field. eQuality Scholarship for Medical Students
eQuality is an organization that works to help promote equality among the gay and lesbian populations, as well as transgendered and bisexual communities as well. This is done through a series of different activities and community outreaches which help to create awareness and acceptance. Of the outreach projects they provide are scholarship and financial assistance opportunities for those that are attending school. Among the different financial gifts and grants are healthcare scholarships for medical students. These students must be a resident of California and must be attending an accredited university or college—though it need not be in California as well. American College of Nursing Midwives Scholarship
The American College of Nursing Midwives is an educational institute that is dedicated to all things midwife related. They believe in providing a healthcare environment that offers holistic approaches to medicine in addition to modern health techniques by teaching the next generation of midwives.
In order to help facilitate this end goal, the American College of Nursing Midwives provides a series of different healthcare scholarships that provide financial assistance to those that want to pursue a career bringing the next generation of human beings into the world. The scholarship can offer hundreds of dollars in assistance to those who demonstrate financial need, academic prowess, and a desire to study at the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
