Environmental science scholarships are a group of awards and financial aid that is reserved for those interested in the field who are pursuing a degree in this area. There are many different reasons why individuals would choose to study environmental studies and science and the career paths that come from a degree attainment are varied.
Those who are studying or have been awarded environmental science scholarships can go on to have lucrative and fulfilling careers in landscape architecture, government work, nonprofit organization leadership, and more. For that reason, many of the environmental science scholarships that are provided are given by groups that have one of these end goals in mind. The following are a few of the different environmental science scholarships that are available to students as well as directives on where to go to apply for these awards.
The Connecticut Chapter of Landscape Architects Scholarship
Environmental science can lead to many different career paths. Among them are those in landscaping. Environmental science is crucial to knowing what plants work best in what environments and how to design a piece of natural scenery that will function well for years to come. That is why some of the best environmental science scholarships are offered through landscaping groups like The Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The American Society of Landscape Architects believes in promoting their mission and passion in the field of landscaping through a variety of different projects, including scholarships.
Those that are interested in utilizing one of their scholarship opportunities must be a member of the chapter or get a chapter sponsorship when choosing to apply for the award, which can range in the hundreds of dollars. Those applying must also explain how their degree will directly or indirectly relate to the field of landscape architecture. The Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship
For those that are attending or are planning to enroll in the County College of Morris and pursue a degree in environmental science, horticulture, or landscaping, there is help available. The Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship is awarded annually to those students who are a part of the aforementioned degree programs and who are interested in financing an education.
These environmental science scholarships are used by the organization to promote the next generation of scholarship students in this area and are part of an ongoing relationship and partnership between the college and The Friends of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s Board of Trustees, who work together to promote the next generation of landscape and horticulture experts in the community.
All of those who wish to apply must be New Jersey residents and provide proof of this designation. They must also be leaders in the community and demonstrate academic talent, having to have a minimum GPA of 3.0. For more information about the Dr. Benjamin C. Blackburn Scholarship or to apply, visit the group’s website here to learn all of the latest details.
