Whatever you cooking passion, there is likely a scholarship that can help you further your culinary education. The scholarships below were created with culinary students in mind and aim to make culinary school a more affordable experience.
CANFIT Program Scholarships are open to both graduate and undergraduate students interested in a culinary career. Students are required to be residents of California and a member of a minority group. Furthermore, they must demonstrate financial need. Undergraduate students are required to hold at least a 2.5 grade point average and graduate students are required to hold at least a 3.0 grade point average. The culinary school must be located in the state of CA. In order to apply, students must complete an application form (which can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Q9lccOM4MHemFfalpRcVVMOG8/edit). In addition, a copy of their financial status form and two letters of recommendation are required. Students must also write a letter and an essay. Transcripts and a photograph must also be included.
Culinary Institute of American Cream of the Crop Scholarship provides twenty scholarships of up to $20,000 each. Students have the option to study in CA, TX, or NY. Students are granted the award in increments of $5,000 per year. In order to be eligible for this award, students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average. Students must submit a completed application form prior to the deadline.
Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Scholarships provide sixty students with up to $25,000 worth of funding. In order to apply for this award, students must live in the state of Illinois and plan to enroll in culinary school. Applicants are chosen based on a combination of their application, work experience, achievements, academic merit, and responses to essay questions. National Candy Technologists Scholarship provides an award worth $5,000. In order to apply, students must be in at least their sophomore year of college and have shown an interest in confectionery study. They must be enrolled in a college or university within the U.S. and hold at least a 3.0 grade point average. Wisconsin Bakers Association Scholarship provides an award worth $1,000. In order to be eligible for this award, students must be residents of Wisconsin with at least 500 hours in the bakery field. Three letters of recommendation are required and students must be at least 18 years of age. Students are required to provide a resume, statement of objectives, and their high school transcripts. In addition to these opportunities, culinary scholarships are available through individual colleges and schools. Students may want to consider checking with their school or department to see whether there are any scholarships available to culinary students.
