A credit card concierge service is like a personal assistant for busy people. They can find you gift ideas, hire various services including contractors, massage therapists, and repairmen, or they could book your next trip. Your credit concierge can also recommend a restaurant—and get you a table—or get tickets to an event you’d like to attend. In fact, a spokesperson for VIPDesk, a company that provides concierge services for several of the best credit cards, says, “Our concierges can do anything as long as it’s not illegal or immoral.”
Having a credit card concierge service used to be reserved for the exclusive credit cards. They served as one of the perks for either being very wealthy, or having top-level credit. Now, however, more cards are offering concierge services than ever before, opening their services up to more cardholders. With so many options now available, which card offers the best services?
The short answer is that it depends on your personal situation. Historically, the top concierge card has been considered to be the American Express Platinum Card. It offers 24-7 access to credit concierge professionals who can find tickets, arrange purchases and deliveries, contract services, and arrange travel anywhere in the world.
Costs and Accessibility of Concierge Services for Common Cards
All of that comes with a hefty price tag. The Amex Platinum is a charge card, not a credit card, so you have to pay the balance in full each month. In addition, the card itself has an annual fee of $450, so it’s not for the casual user.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve sports the same high annual fee, with many of the same type of rewards as the Amex Platinum. The Chase card, however, is a credit card, so you can carry a balance from month to month. There are no blackout dates on concierge travel – if there is a seat available on the plane, you can have your concierge book it for you.
Visa Signature cards are a bit more accessible for the average person; there are even some cards available to those who are rebuilding their credit. They offer hotel discounts, travel perks, access to special member benefits, and payment protection as part of their concierge services. While some cards still charge an annual fee, others have the credit concierge services as part of their standard no annual fee card benefits, making it easy for nearly anyone to gain access to those services.
On the Mastercard side, the World Elite Mastercard offers 24-7 concierge benefits that can help find anything you need, including luxury accommodations worldwide, private jet service, or even just that rare, one-of-a-kind gift you can’t seem to find anywhere. The World Elite also offers VIP recognition and service at over 200 exclusive nightclubs, as well as top-tier treatment at events, insider opportunities, and other perks.
There are many ways to access credit concierge benefits – and many cardholders don’t even know they already have it. It all starts with calling the number on the back of your card. Talk to a representative and ask if you have a credit card concierge service with your card. If it doesn’t, ask about what cards do; you might find a better card with the services you want.
