Citibank is a part of Citigroup, one of the largest financial corporations in the world. While they have had their ups and downs, especially with the global financial crisis that happened back in 2008 and 2008, they still come out on top.
Consumers know that Citibank has their best interest in mind, and trust them with their financial accounts. Aside from personal and business banking, Citibank also offers a variety of hotel credit cards and other forms of credit. Let’s look closer at the Citi Hilton Honors Visa Signature Card and see how it compares.
Benefits and Rewards
With the Citi Hilton Honors Visa Signature card, earning points really is just the beginning of the benefits and rewards. They offer a points system that lets you earn points towards stays at Hilton hotels, and hotels that are affiliated with them. With your card, you will earn 2 HHonors points every time you spend $1 on the card. When you shop at supermarkets, gas stations and drug stores, you will earn 3 HHonors bonus points. With every $1 you spend on hotels that are within the Hilton chain, you will get 6 HHonors bonus points.
Aside from earning points to help you with your hotel accommodations, you will also get complimentary Silver status for being a Citi Hilton Honors Visa Signature cardholder. You can get on the fast track to their Gold status by using your card for 4 stays at Hilton hotels within your first 90 days of being a cardholder. You will also get to Gold by making $20,000 in purchases within the calendar year. There are no limits to how many points you can earn. Kick start your points by making $2000 in purchases within the first three months of opening your account, and you will receive an additional 75,000 bonus points.
Each year, if you make $1000 in purchases for stays within Hilton hotels, you will get an annual 10,000 point bonus for your loyalty to the Hilton name. You will also get concierge services, travel assistance and much more, which is offered to all Visa signature cardholders. This doesn’t even mention the security features that Visa signature cardholders can take advantage of, like chip technology and $0 fraud liability.
Hotels within their family include Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Canopy, Curio, DoubleTree, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Tru, Homewood Suites, Home2, and Hilton Grand Vacations. Bonus points can be earned when you use your card to stay at any of these hotels.

Before you get overly excited about the card, you need to make sure that you know all about their rates and fees. The good news is that the Citi Hilton Honors Visa Signature card doesn’t require you to pay an annual fee. The only fees that you will pay will be associated with transactions that you make with the card. For instance, if you have a balance transfer, your fee will be 3% or $5, whichever is more. For cash advances, your fee is 5% or $10. Foreign transactions also come with a fee of 3% of the total price of the purchase in U.S. dollars.
That is really all of the fees associated with the card, so let’s take a closer look at the annual percentage rates. The APR of your card will be either 15.49%, 17.49% or 19.49%. This will really depend on your credit history and how worthy you are of credit. It will also be the same APR for balance transfers. Your APR can also go up to 29.99% as a penalty APR if and when you make a late payment or have a payment returned from your bank. You will also have a higher rate on cash advances, of 25.49%. All in all, it seems that their rates and fees are pretty much in line with most of the other cards available.
With all things considered, the Citi Hilton Honors Visa Signature card is a good choice, especially for those that like to travel and stay in quality hotels. The fact that it has no annual fee definitely catches the eye. If you are looking for a card that will not only give you hotel rewards, but also charge average interest rates, this may be the card for you. It seems the only thing that holds some people back from getting this card is the fact that they require you to have pretty good credit.4.30 Citi Hilton HHonors Signature Card
