It is time to look into the rates and fees that come along with the card. This card comes with an annual fee is $450. This is payable upon opening your account, and it’s required again every year. While it is high, you really have to look into the rewards and see if it will pay for itself over time.
They also have fees on cash advances of either 5% or $10, and fees on balance transfers of either 3% or $5. The good news, however, especially since this is a travel rewards card, is that there is no foreign transaction fee.
The standard variable annual percentage rate, or APR, on all purchases is 16.74% – 24.74%, and this rate is also applied to all balance transfers made with your card. The rate will vary based on the market prime rates, and your creditworthiness will also play an important role in your own actual interest rate.
The standard variable rate for cash advances, however, is a bit higher at 26.24%. The highest your APR can go is 29.99% which is the penalty rate. It is always a good idea to make your payments on time each month, not only to avoid these high interest rates, but also to avoid hefty penalty fees. Late payments can also do a number to your credit report, making you less creditworthy.
The Bottom Line
When it comes down to the bottom line, the Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard seems to be a good fit for those that love traveling and have the capital to pay the annual fee. If you don’t think that you will take full advantage of the perks, it may be a good idea to look for a card with a lower annual fee.
