Cheerleading Scholarships

Unlike other sports teams, cheerleaders rely less on formal recruiting from college coaches. As such, it can be difficult to know where to find cheerleading scholarships for college. However, there are scholarships that can help cheerleaders further their education. Some of these scholarships are offered through national organizations while others are offered through individual colleges or universities. Cheerleaders may also want to explore local scholarships that help fund cheerleaders seeking to go to college. Below is a starting point.

University of Hawaii Cheerleading Scholarships

University of Hawaii Cheerleading Scholarships provides cheerleaders with a fantastic package. Each year, Hawaii sets aside money for somewhere between twelve to fourteen full-tuition scholarships just for cheerleaders. This provides full-tuition coverage, regardless of whether the student is from in-state or out-of-state. Furthermore, they also offer Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarships, which enable students from the Western United States to receive a 50% discount on their out-of-state tuition expenses. Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program

Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program is open to cheerleading students who are seniors in high school and who want to pursue a college degree. This award offers up to a $25,000 scholarship to one lucky winner. In addition, 19 other awards worth $20,000 are offered. In order to be eligible, students must demonstrate high academic achievement, proven leadership abilities, and sportsmanship. They must have been involved in an extracurricular activity in high school and have at least a 3.0 grade point average. Furthermore, students must be residents of the United States. The application opens on October 1st and students may complete the application anytime before December 17th. Amber Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund

Amber Huber Memorial Scholarship Fund provides a $1,000 award to a student who lives in Ogle County in Illinois. Applicants must have competed in either cheerleading or track. This award is only open to female high school seniors. Students must have at least a 2.0 grade point average and must have been involved in high school sports for at least three seasons.

Booster Alumni Endowed Spirit Scholarship

Booster Alumni Endowed Spirit Scholarship can be awarded to any student at Hofstra University who is in their sophomore year or above. Eligible students must have shown school spirit through extracurricular activities, one of which is cheerleading. Students are required to have at least a 2.7 grade point average in order to apply. An application package requires letters of recommendation.

Christian Cheerleaders of American Scholarships

Christian Cheerleaders of American Scholarships offer up to fifty scholarships annually. These are awarded at the yearly high school cheer competition. Applicants must plan to enroll in a Christian college within the United States in order to be eligible for this award.

Iowa Cheerleading Coaches’ Association Scholarships

Iowa Cheerleading Coaches’ Association Scholarships are open to Iowa high school seniors who excel both athletically and academically. These awards provide $500 worth of funding to multiple students every year. Students must have at least a 3.5 grade point average, provide one letter of recommendation, write an essay, and have demonstrated leadership skills.
