Unlike other sports teams, cheerleaders rely less on formal recruiting from college coaches. As such, it can be difficult to know where to find cheerleading scholarships for college. However, there are scholarships that can help cheerleaders further their education. Some of these scholarships are offered through national organizations while others are offered through individual colleges or universities. Cheerleaders may also want to explore local scholarships that help fund cheerleaders seeking to go to college. Below is a starting point for cheerleading scholarships.
University of Hawaii Cheerleading Scholarships provide cheerleaders with a fantastic package. Each year, Hawaii sets aside money for somewhere between twelve to fourteen full tuition scholarships just for cheerleaders. This provides full tuition coverage, regardless of whether the student is from in-state or out-of-state. Furthermore, they also offer Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarships, which enable students from the Western United States to receive a 50% discount on their out-of-state tuition expenses. More information about these scholarships can be found at: http://hawaiiathletics.com/sports/2008/8/14/CHEER_0814080617.aspx?path=cheer.
