If you are a proud member of the greater Scouting community, you know what an accomplishment it is to progress through the ranks of the Boy Scouts, earning badges, learning, having fun, and eventually achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. The Boy Scouts of America is an institution that a great many families enjoy together. Now they can show their pride with a new line of credit cards from Commerce Bank.
The two options include an Eagle Scout credit card and a Boy Scout credit card. These credit cards allow current and former Scouts, as well as the family members of Scouts, to show their pride every time they use their credit card. These cards have important benefits, not just for the cardholder, but for the National Eagle Scouts of America and the Boy Scouts of America. Read on to review these programs, and whether an Eagle Scout or Boy Scout credit card is right for you.

Eagle Scouts Credit Card
- Annual Fee: $0
- APR: 1.99% for first 6 months; 11.74% – 21.74% variable APR after that
- Benefits: Earn 3% cash back at coffee shops, on fast food, and on ride-sharing services; 2% back at gas stations and restaurants; and 1% back on all other purchases
- Category: Rewards Credit Card
The Eagle Scout Visa Rewards Credit Card is designed for people who have achieved the status of Eagle Scout, and for those that support them. It has no annual fee, and a low introductory annual percentage rate (APR) of just 1.99 percent for the first six months. After that, the APR will be between 11.74 and 21.74 percent, depending on the creditworthiness of the applicant.
The Eagle Scout card offers unlimited cash back to cardholders with no points cap and no requirement to opt into the cash back plan. There are different levels of cash back based on the type of purchase made, with three percent cash back given for coffee shop/fast food purchases and ride sharing apps, two percent for gas and restaurants, and one percent on all other purchases. Cardholders can choose to get one percent cash back or choose to use points for gift cards, travel, merchandise, or other options.
A portion of each purchase supports the National Eagle Scouts of America, and cardholders can choose to donate their cash back to the Eagle Scouts and/or a local council. This may be an especially attractive option to anyone actively involved in Scouting, or who simply wants to support the organization.
However, there may be better credit card deals out there, specifically, rewards credit cards. Consumers should shop around to get the best deal possible, particularly if they would prefer to donate their own money to the Eagle Scouts rather than use a credit card to donate through a third party. Commerce Bank does not disclose what percentage of each purchase is donated to the Eagle Scouts.

Like the Eagle Scouts credit card, the Boy Scouts credit card is a fantastic way to show your support for the Boy Scouts, whether you are a current or former Boy Scout, or a family member of a Scout. Importantly, you must be 18 years of age to have a Commerce Bank Boy Scouts credit card.
The Boy Scouts of America Visa credit card has no annual fee. It has an introductory annual percentage rate (APR) of 1.99 percent for the first six months, which rises to between 11.74 to 21.74 percent. The interest rate for the credit card is based on the creditworthiness of the applicant.
As with the Eagle Scout credit card, the Boy Scout card gives its cardholders unlimited cash back. There is no cap on the amount of points cardholders can accumulate, and cardholders do not have to opt into the program. Different purchases lead to varying rewards levels: three percent cash back given for coffee shop/fast food purchases and ride sharing apps, two percent for gas and restaurants, and one percent on all other purchases. Cardholders can choose to get one percent cash back, or choose to use points for gift cards, travel, merchandise, or other options. Alternatively, customers can donate their points to the Boy Scouts of America and/or a local Scout Council.
A portion of each purchase supports the Boy Scouts of America and the council in the area where the cardholder resides. This is a great way to help promote scouting, particularly in your local community, through the purchases you were already going to make. However, Commerce Bank does not disclose the percentage it donates to the Boy Scouts, so cardholders should be wary of spending too much with the idea that it is benefiting the Boy Scouts.
While the Boy Scouts credit card offers a decent introductory rate and a good cash back rewards plan, other cash back credit cards may offer more favorable terms. Because there may be more financially advantageous credit cards, consumers should consider these alternatives before applying for a Boy Scouts credit card.
These offerings from Commerce Bank are a good way to show support for the Eagle Scouts and Boy Scouts. However, there may be better deals available that will save you money, and allow you to donate directly to your local Scouting organization.
